Performance Groups & Competition

Performance Groups/Competition Teams The Dance Center offers a diverse array of learning and performance opportunities for children, teens and young adults through special performance groups; including The Dance Center Youth Ensemble, The Dance Center Competition Teams, Studio Co. and Ballet Virtuoso performance groups.

The pre-professional ballet company for students age 9 and older.

The Dance Center Youth Ensemble members have performed in full-length ballets, including the classics like Nutcracker, Cinderella, Snow White, The Sleeping Beauty; and new original ballets like A Christmas Carol (a ballet depiction of the Charles Dickens story) and Aladdin. In addition, they have performed original shorter works and one-act ballets including Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Enchanted Garden and The Awakening. The DCYE hosts workshops and master classes throughout the year!

What is the DCYE? How do I get involved?
The Dance Center Youth Ensemble provides extended performance opportunities and educational training for gifted young dancers beginning at age 9 through adult. The DCYE holds auditions twice annually, providing workshops and choreography with outstanding professionals in the field of dance—including ballet, pointe, jazz and modern dance, and related topics throughout the year. The DCYE presents the full-length ballets and one-act ballets in a pre-professional environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
The DCYE provides extended training and performance opportunities but does not take the place of continued training and progress of consistent technical training. Because continued education and training are important to a dancer’s development (even professional dancers take daily classes), DCYE Members are required to meet a minimum class schedule and maintain adequate attendance.

AGES 9 THROUGH 12 Members are required to take a minimum of two ballet technique classes per week at The Dance Center. Students are encouraged to take a pointe class (if pointe student), as well as an elective class in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary or Celtic. Students should be level II or above.

AGES 13+ Members, must be age 13 and older, are required to take a minimum of two ballet technique classes per week, one pointe class, and an elective class (modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, Celtic or additional class) at The Dance Center. Students should be level III or above.

FEES: Students meeting the above requirements and upon selection by audition will pay a non-refundable participant fee. Discounts are available to Pre-Pro Intensive dancers.
Auditions are held semi-annually.
